April 5, 2020BY Immigrationincanada

In Canada, there are countless Canadian citizens or permanent residents whose parents or grandparents live outside Canada. Most of them desperately want their parents and grandparents to bring in Canada.

So, does the Canadian government allows the parents and grandparents of a Canadian citizen or PR to come to Canada?

Luckily, the Canadian super visa for parents & grandparents allows them to visit Canada for an extended period. This visa is designed to ensure the children or grandchildren get the chance to spend quality time with their families.

Some specific processes and rules differ super visa from a regular visa. In this article, we’ll tell you all the facts regarding the super visa for parents and grandparents. Let’s get started!

What is a Canadian Super Visa?

The super visa is a several-entry visa that permits parents and grandparents of a PR/Canadian citizen to visit their loved ones in Canada. The eligible parents and grandparents can visit Canada and stay for up to 2 years per visit.

Under this program, Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) may issue a one-year extension with two years visit period. The Canadian super visa for parents and grandparents is valid for a maximum of 10 years.

During their single visit period, the eligible parents and grandparents can stay in Canada without renewing the status. The super visa holder can also visit their home country in this period.

Is Super Visa a Regular Multiple-Entry Visa?

No. Evidently, the super visa and regular multiple-entry visa or visitor visa both are valid for ten years. But, the difference between both is the duration of stay per visit.

A regular multiple-entry visa allows the visa holder to stay for only six months per visit. The visa holder can apply to extend their visa after this period. Contrariwise, a super visa allows the visa holder to stay for up to two years without needing an extension.
