International Experience Canada (IEC) offers young individuals to work and travel in Canada for temporary periods. If you are eligible to apply, then your application will be placed in one or more pools of IEC candidates.

Let’s know how to travel or work in Canada as a youth

How Does It work?

The IEC program consists of three categories or programs,

  • Working Holiday: This program is designed for people who may want to work during their vacation. So, they can earn money to support their travels. Participants may receive an open work permit with one or two-year validity.
  • Young Professionals: This program is designed for foreign nationals to gain professional work experience. So, they can compete in a global economy. The applicant must show a signed job offer from a Canadian employer.
  • International Co-Op: This program is designed for people who may want to gain overseas work experience related to their studies. It is more like doing an internship for Canadian companies.

You need to create your IEC profile to apply to any program. One applicant can only have one IEC profile, but they can be eligible for more than one IEC pool.

For example, your profile is eligible for both international co-op and working holiday. If there is no spot left in international co-op, then you’ll get an invitation to apply for a working holiday pool.
