Impact of revocation

Revoked person must wait ten years from the date of cancellation before applying for citizenship. Withdrawn person can not apply for resumption of citizenship under subsection 11 (1).

How revocation works

Before revoked from citizenship, they will send a request for information letter. It explains that the person obtained citizenship by false representation or fraud. Withdrawn people have 30 days to respond.

If the person continues the revocation process, the person will receive a notification letter, and they have to respond within 60 days. The Federal Court makes decisions for all citizenship revocation cases. The Minister’s decision will approve their request.
