Are you planning to visit Canada in a few days? The first thing you need is a valid Canadian visa. Luckily, you can apply online for a visa or permit.
However, what type of Canadian visa you need depends on your purpose of visit. The Canadian government offers different categories of visas or permits, such as visitor visa, an eTA, transit visa, super visa, student visa, and many more.
You can apply online on the Canadian Government website to get any of these visas. Though the process for some special visa categories might be different, there is something familiar. Here is a step by step guide;

Step 1: Know the Details
In the beginning, find out a visa you are going to apply for. Read about the information on the visa or permit requirements on the IRCC website. Download the form and document checklist as well.
Step 2: Create an Account
Create a GCKey user ID on the IRCC website to apply online. This account is needed to start the application, submission, and paying for your application. Also, you can check the application status through this account.
Step 3: Prepare the Documents
Gather all the required documents as per the IRCC document checklist relevant to the visa. Now scan them all to create electronic copies. You’ll also need a valid Credit or Debit card to pay the application fees.
Step 4: Fill Out the Application Form
All your documents are ready. Now sign in to your GCKey ID and fill out your application form for that visa. Some visas may need biometrics where you have to give your fingerprints and photo.
Step 5: Pay the Fees and Submit the Application
At this point, you’ll need to pay Government of Canada fee and biometric fees (If required). Finally, submit the application form.
It will take a specific time for the processing of the particular visa category. If your application is approved, then you will get a notification to collect all your documents.
